I published my first book in 2000. The manuscript's journey was full of turns and twists! I'd sent it originally to a large trade publisher, and they responded positively. I was so excited at the possibility of becoming a published author! Yet it wasn't to be -- soon after that first letter, a second arrived, withdrawing their interest.
Was I upset? You bet!
I put the manuscript away in a drawer.
Six years passed.
I stumbled across the manuscript and reread it. It's not bad, I decided. So I sent it out again. I chose three publishers:
This is what happened:
#1 returned the ms immediately; I don't think they even had time to read it!
#2 has not responded to this day.
#3 sent me an email that said, "If you haven't sold this yet, we'd like to talk to you."
I have been publishing steadily since then.
I've been fortunate in my career. The people who have helped me along the way are many, and in order to honor them, I want to help other writers start their careers.
I welcome submissions from traditionally under-represented groups, including BIPOC and LGBTQ+ authors and illustrators.
What's that? You aren't a member of such a group? Approach me anyway! We all have stories to tell, and I want to hear yours!

How to Submit
Send your email to submissions@triquetraliterary.com, or use the submission form on the "Contact Us" page. Please introduce yourself, briefly, and tell me a bit about your project (genre, age range, word length).
Please do not send attachments; I will not download them and will delete them. Sorry, but the risk of viruses and malware is too great.
I will respond as quickly as possible. Because I'm starting out, my goal is to respond to every query, whether yea or nay. I may have suggestions, but I may not.
What to Submit
I'm open to all kinds of children's books, from board book to YA nonfiction and novels. I'm also interested in adult books, but I am not a good fit for romance or horror. I will look at mysteries (I'm a sucker for a good cozy) and speculative fiction.

It also means family. As I looked around for a name for my agency, I realized that the best author-agent relationships should be like family; we should believe in each other, support one another, and cheer each other on.
